CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL SYDNEY 2014

This is definitely an extremely late and overdue post! It has almost been a month since the Chocolate festival happened at the Rocks. The sun was shining and the air was filled with music from the live band and there were endless lines of food stalls lining the harbor.

Chocolate coated fruit are always hard to resist and thankfully the line up at  Parisi  was short. There was a good selection of chocolate coated fruits to choose from. We settled with one peach and two mango coated chocs.

Ridiculously juicy and fresh with the mix of fruity tanginess along with the sweetness of the chocolate. A treat you cant feel guilty about with the two simple combinations.

I love Messina gelato but this line was ridiculously long and we were way to giddy to eat and see as many food stalls as possible. for this occasion we gave Messina a miss and thankfully there's now a few Messina stores open.

Our second stop was at a stall called Sunweesh which made taco like "sundweeshes"  that are Middle Eastern inspired with modern touches. This consisted of a base of Lebanese bread added with your desired meat or seafood (also vegan friendly with Falafels), layered with salad and topped with drizzelings of sauces.

We had decided to try the special which was the Prawn with 'slaw and peri-peri mayo. The first thing which really stood out was the Lebanese bread, it felt and tasted dry.  The prawns were only the little tiny ones which were also sparsely distributed which left it a little lacking. It did the job of settling our stomachs though.

Around the corner more stalls stood tall and filled the streets.

Major stand out was the Knafeh crate, where the staff members cheered loudly every time a Knafeh rolled out freshly cooked out of the oven. It was brilliant which made the foot traffic very curious and many stopped with interest. This definitely made us stop to watch and eventually we joined the line to order a Knafeh.

The production line was efficient which moved smoothly with orders moving from left to right until it reached the oven to bake then finally topped with Pistachios and handed to the final person who drizzled sugar syrup over the Knafeh.

The above has to be my favorite photo from the day.

First time trying the Knafeh and it was absolutely delicious. A soft custard with a sweet cheese gooey center was to die for. The sugar syrup and the pistachios went very well in lifting the flavors, This also creates an aromatic sweet scent from the Knafeh. Out of excitement your eyes expand lager than life in pour bliss. The taste makes you salivate for more.

While waiting in line for our Knafeh, we noticed  Sweetness the Patisserie which had an amazing varieties in candy, fudges, biscuits and other baked goods. The Sour Berry Gummies cought our attention and bought ourselves a bag. Without a doubt these might be some of the best Sour gummies I have ever had. they were soft and highly packed with sour berry flavors.
