JASMINE 1

Jasmine 1 is a regularly visited restaurant by us which we probably visit at least once a month and sometimes twice or more. It's a no fail option due to the food quality, serving sizes and affordability. There's always plenty to share and almost everything is grilled and healthy. I love the mixed plates which has such a variety on one plate.The other thing which is so nice to see is the vast range of nationalities that come into the restaurant. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. Today we invited two friends to come to lunch with us and this is what we shared.  

Mix Plate - $17.00

Hommous, Baba Ghannouj, Tabouli, Falafel, one Kafta skewer,

 one Shish Kebab skewer, one Shish Tawook skewer

A definite no fail option and my personal favorite is the mix plate. One plate is plenty to share with two people unless your abnormally big eater. It has everything from three meats, falafels and kibbeh which are my favorites on the plate. They are these football shaped meatballs called kibbeh which are made from bulgur on the outter shell and a mixture of meat, pine nuts, onions in the inside. 

Kibbeh Nayyeh - $10.00

Lean raw minced lamb, blended with crushed wheat & herbs, dressed in olive oil

The Kibbeh Nayyeh is a raw version of the fried kibbeh and the Lebanese version of beef tartare. If your not big on raw food then this might be a tad bit too much but its worth the try. It has a smooth texture and the meat is cured with lemon and olive oil which also adds to the flavor along with chopped herbs. It can be eaten on its own or eaten with Lebanese bread.

Crispy Fried Chicken - $15.00

The crispy fried chicken is another must order. Its super crunchy on the outside and soft and juicy in the inside. The batter is a house special with their own secret herbs and spices, with that said the chicken is not spicy at all unfortunately but chilli sauce is provided on the side. Another highlight that was delightful was the corn slaw! so addictive and super crunchy with the extra added corn.
