AL-DHIAFFAH AL-IRAQI

This has to be Fairfield's diamond in the rough. It is located just opposite the train station (busy side). The outside of the restaurant sure doesn't scream out trendy but damn the food here is amazingly honest. Al Dhiaffah al Iraqi has been here for years and since I could remember we've been visiting and have always ordered the same shish plate even though they have a good variety on their menu. Another thing that doesn't go unnoticed is the friendly service that they provide. They've always been welcoming with a massive smile.

Mix Shish Plate - $17.00

A mix plate always consists of three meats that's usually chicken, lamb and beef kafta kebabs. The plate is further topped with salads, hummus and pickled  vegetables. Depending on different restaurants some things vary. Although this plate sprinkled with a heavy ducting of sumac is probably one of my all time top dishes to demolish alone. I can't get enough of the grilled soft meats teamed with the homemade flat bread that comes out hot and fresh.

Roasted Lamb with Fasolia - $16.00

The roasted lamb in rice is the Iraqi version of biryani with a side serving of Fasolia which is a beef, bean and vegetable stew. Together they make one killer of a meal. The lamb fell apart effortlessly and tasted amazing with the Fasolia. On a cold winter's night this is definitely extremely satisfying and filling.
