GRANO

Dinner at Grano

There is nothing like a dinner date at a new suburban treasure spot. Everyone meet Grano, an Italian restaurant located in Wetherill Park.

Everything about this place was screaming "Hello trendy". Their restaurant decor somewhat reminds me of the Grounds of Alexandria from the beautiful rustic furniture, the exposed brick walls and the greenery. Although they might have taken the whole "rustic" theme a bit too far. The restaurant itself its massive and it seems like they've tried to fit too many tabled and chairs into a small space. Some of the decor felt  over cluttered. Well enough of the restaurants aesthetics and more about the food. It's a definite true indication that Grano is a new hot spot for locals if there's a line to be seated.

Ice Tea Jar -  $3.50

Granchio e Aglio - $24.90
Spaghetti, Spanner Crab, Garlic, Chilli, Creme & Pomodoro sugo

There's nothing like perfectly cooked Al Dante pasta that's served in a massive frying pan.
This pasta was to die for, the creamy sauce made an absolute perfect combination with the crab meat.

Pazza Pazza -  $23.00
Sugo di Pomodoro, Mozzarella, Gralic, Prawns, Chilli

The pasta was an absolute delight so I expected nothing less from the pizza however
I was disappointed that it tasted average. The dough felt under cooked which made it feel like
I was chewing endlessly. For the price of the pizza I would have expected a decent amount of prawns not small chopped up prawns.

Potato Fries - $ 6.90

Potato chip are one of my many weaknesses and fortunately these were absolute addictive
and super crunchy. They were covered in seasoning and partnered with aioli sauce.

Natellino Pizza - $16.00
Nutella, Fondue lava belgian melted chocolate, Cinnamon, Fresh Strawberries, Icing Sugar

Surprisingly the Nutella pizza was pretty close to A-mazing, I had thought that all hope had been lost for the pizza dough but the Nutella pizza was soft with a slight crunch to the crust. A generous serving of Nutella covered the pizza base and topped with fresh strawberries. Maybe we should have ordered this first.

Macchiato Brulee - $14.90
Vanilla bean, Coffee Creme Brulee, Caramalised Sugar, Caretera Espresso

Macchiato Brulee? It sounded inviting and who doesn't love a good brulee? This was the last dish to come out which was aesthetically pleasing. Of course because its desert I had such high expectations. I thought it was love at first sight then things happened and all of a sudden I fell out of love. The creaminess was beyond overbearing with a very strong taste of espresso. The whole thing was sadly sickening and I only had two small spoons worth and gave up. I can not say I would order the Machhiato Brulee again nor would I recommend it. A little too pricey for something that's so disappointing.

Overall everything was okay except for the brulee but I do recommend their pasta's. The atmosphere is relaxed with dim lighting and open bonfires with two massive metal drums which fills the air with freshly burned wood. (Which reminds me of camping). Throughout dinner we  had friendly helpful waitresses.

A massive con that I only picked up on when I was finally home was that the pricing on the menu was somewhat different to the receipt pricing. Some dishes had an extra $1 to $2 difference. Maybe an updated version of the menu should be printed.
