BLACK STAR PASTRY

I could probably count with one hand the amount of times I've been at Black Star Pastry and yes I know its pretty sad considering how incredible the Watermelon cake is. The last time we attempted to visit we were actually stopped by a massive mob of people! Seriously thought its true! It was for the Cold Play film clip. We spend most of our day shopping around Newtown and didn't know anything about Cold Play even being in town! Our last stop before home was going to be Black Star Pastry but when we turned the corner there was a bunch of people and security guards gathered in a circle waiting for something and Bam! Next thing we knew we were apart of the new Cold Play film clip of "a sky full of stars".

As usual there's the normal line up for the cake which no one ever mind waiting and thankfully the line was moving along in a decent speed. Do you see the lady that looks as though she's waving at me? Yeah lol, she actually isn't waving at me but rather flagging me down not to take pictures. I'm unfortunately rather blind and I could not read the sign which advised against taking photos. After that they just seemed cold and almost rude about us taking photos of the store and equipment. I do respect that they don't want their photo taken or don't want to be apart of the picture. I think from the silence of the line in front of us others have been told and so we all stood patiently waiting for the yummy cake.

Strawberry Watermelon Cake - $7.50
layers of almond dacquoise, fresh whipped cream, watermelon, strawberries,
 Iranian pistachios and rose petals

This cake can do no wrong. The Strawberry Watermelon cake is always made with perfect consistency where you are able to buy the same product and not have it taste any different from the last time. That's the beauty of Black Star Pastry they are consistant with their small delicate selections of cakes. This small slice was pure heaven with every bite as blissful as the next with one spoonful you're able to taste each element of the cake's flavors. The cake explodes with freshness from the watermelon, strawberries and grapes but what I love about this cake above all is the lingering taste on your taste buds of the dried rose petals.
