Kungfu Ramen has now become one of our favorite spots to eat while in the city but also its somewhere we dine when we both can't decide. Today was one of those days and our first visit for 2015. Kungfu Ramen is located just outside Haymarket where the main entrance is located, Its nothing over the top fancy just a restaurant that I would have to say serves good honest food that doesn't cost you an arm or a leg but also the portion sizes are unbelievably massive. We've always ordered separate meals to get the best of both worlds but there'd always go unfinished so today we ordered one to share.
Ramen mixed with Beef and vegetables - $12.80
When we ordered I thought I had ordered a stir-fry noodles but instead a gigantic bowl of steaming hot Ramen came out and my stir-fry noodle craving disappeared into thin air. The bowl seemed bottomless with the amount of Ramen that we kept scooping out. The broth from the soup was heartwarming with this smooth tangy flavor of tomatoes and beef .The Small soft cubed potatoes were a surprise, I've never had potatoes in a soup with noodles or Ramen before and yes after a short while everything was heavy and extremely filling. The homemade Ramen were soft and had a slight chewiness to them which was addictive, they also held the flavor of the broth very well. We were glad we ordered one bowl to share, I couldn't have finished one myself.
Lamb Shish Kebabs (5 skewers) - $12.50
Our all time favorite when visiting a Chinese restaurant and an almost no fail option on the menu. The Lamb kebabs here are super tasty and just cooked to soft and juicy perfection. One thing that is overwhelmingly noticeable is the aroma of the kebabs when they first arrive to your table. It's almost like a body odor smell (just my opinion) but apart from that they taste nothing like what they smell like.
