BELLY BAO

Parking in the city is a major pain but tonight was incredibly annoying with the added bonus of the rain. After what felt like almost two hours we decided to cave in and park in the parking lot in Chinatown which cost an arm and two legs. Besides the hassle of getting here, thankfully the place was only becoming busy which meant we were still able to find a table. For those who haven't yet visited Belly Bao, it's located inside Goodgod Small Club, so don't look for a Belly Bao sign because there isn't one that's easily spotted.

Sweet Potato Fries - $7.00
Drizzled with Chili Aioli

Sweet potato fries always make me squeal whenever I see them on the menu. They are just so damn good and this batch was no exception. It definitely delivered. They were almost crunchy and fluffy soft inside and topped with a drizzling of Chili Aioli. The Chili Aioli went so well with the sweet potato fries I might have to start doing this at home.

Baoger - $10.00

The second to arrive to our table was the BAOGER which was worthy of a thumbs up. It was on the small side for ten dollars but then again the size of this would definitely kick Mary's burger ass. Was it any good? Hell yeah, with two patties, oozing cheese, a small sight of green and pickled baby radishes this was as close as I was going to get to Baoger heaven tonight.

Panko Crumbed Chicken Breast Bao - $6.50 (right)

The Panko Crumbed Chicken Breast was basically chicken schnitzel just worded nicely but besides that it was worthy to be in the bao and went very well together. The added crunchy texture against the soft bun was almost addictive.

Slow Braised Beef Short Rib Bao- $6.50 (middle)

The braised beef was probably the one I was most looking forward to eating but unfortunately I found the combination of the slow cooked  braised beef with the Kimchi, spring onion and sesame mayo way too overwhelming. The flavors just clashed in my mouth gave it an instant sickening feeling.

Soft Shell Carb Bao - $6.50 (left)

The soft shell crab was the last and thankfully it didn't really disappoint. I mostly enjoyed the crunch from the soft shell crab but I felt it was a bit bland (nothing like a touch of salt couldn't fix) even with the heroic Chili Aioli.
